King’s Day 2023
On the occasion of the visit of the royal family to the city of Rotterdam on King’s Day 2023, the city is festively decorated with flags on various buildings throughout the city and along the route of the Royal party.
Recycling city dressing
After the festive day, all decorations were collected for reuse. A large part of all the flags and banners used to decorate the city have remained clean. New products are made from this, such as bags, bean bags and picnic blankets.
Moroccan craft
However, some have minor signs of wear, but are therefore suitable for use in a hand-knotted tapestry. This can be done using the traditional Moroccan (upcycling) technique ‘boucherouite’.
